With the FEMTO-ST Institute, SUPMICROTECH-ENSMM develops its cutting edge research activities and shows its recognised expertise.
The FEMTO-ST institute : a central place
Research at SUPMICROTECH-ENSMM is organised almost exclusively in the FEMTO-ST Institute (Franche-Comté Electronics Mechanics Thermics and Optics-Sciences and Technologies). The institute is a Joint Research Unit associated with CNRS (UMR 6174) and attached to the University of Franche-Comté (UFC), SUPMICROTECH-ENSMM and the Technology University of Belfort-Montbéliard (UTBM).
SUPMICROTECH-ENSMM, a major asset at FEMTO-ST
Nearly all of the teacher-researchers are members of the institute. The School also hosts two of the laboratory’s seven departments. In total there are no fewer than 180 people working in eight research teams in SUPMICROTECH-ENSMM buildings.
A dynamic research institute
The activities at the FEMTO-ST research institute are dedicated to the Engineering Sciences, and Information and Communication Science and Technology. They are organised in three main sectors: Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies (optics, acoustics, micro- and nanosystems, time-frequency and mechatronics), Materials and Structures (mechanics and science of surfaces) and Energy (metrology and design of energy systems).
Numerous and varied research subjects
The activity extends over a broad spectrum of research subjects, going from fundamental research to industrial applications.
Manufacturing and testing real devices – to demonstrate the viability of new concepts – represent key missions for the institute. The institute includes several technological platforms, the largest of which is the MIMENTO platform, dedicated to micro- and nanomanufacturing.
